Transit time estimator: how long car shipping typically takes

This tool estimates transit days once a carrier has picked up your vehicle, based on distance bands published by two industry sources. It is a planning estimate, not a delivery guarantee: we never guarantee delivery dates.

Spec: what the tool asks for and does

Input: approximate driving distance between your pickup and delivery addresses (miles).

Output: a transit-day range, drawn from the published bands below, plus a separate note that booking and dispatch time (the time to find and confirm a carrier) is not included in the transit estimate and adds to total door-to-door time.

Distance bands, sourced

These bands combine ranges published by NaviAutoTransport (read 2026-09-21) and ShipYourCarNow (read 2026-09-21); the two sources overlap closely but aren't identical, which is itself a useful signal that these are estimates, not fixed schedules. ShipYourCarNow also notes that total door-to-door time typically runs 2–5 days longer than the transit estimate alone, once you add the time to find and confirm a carrier. Worked example

A 900-mile route falls in the 500–1,000 mile band: 2–5 days in transit once a carrier picks up. Add booking and dispatch time on top: commonly another 2–5 days: for a realistic total window from your request to delivery, not from pickup to delivery.

This estimate is built entirely from publicly published industry ranges, not from live carrier data, current corridor demand, or a guarantee tied to your specific shipment. Actual transit time depends on the assigned carrier's route, other stops on that route, weather, and traffic. Carrying this into booking
